Author(s): Tanishka Pundhir

Abstract: Psychologists are subjected to multiple competing emotional demands, which increase the Burnout (BO) risk. According to the study, BO arises from both organizational as well as personal factors, encompassing psychologists’ personal beliefs and coping. The personal beliefs and coping mechanisms of psychologists can impact their potential to manage stressors. Counseling psychologists’ profession reveals them to a unique set of stressors, comprising emotional exhaustion, client-related difficulties, workload, administrative tasks, and the pressure to maintain personal boundaries. Implementing efficient Coping Strategies (CSs) can solve these stressors for managing the pressures faced by counseling psychologists in their professional lives. Psychologists can navigate the necessitates of their work more efficiently by adopting techniques, namely mindfulness, stress reduction exercises, and seeking Peer Support (PS). Hence, exploring the stressors faced by counseling psychologists and the CSs they employ to manage these pressures in their professional lives is the objective. The impact of stress on preventing BO and promoting resilience, CSs utilized by counseling psychologists, and challenges in employing CSs are also described in this review.
