The socio-economic transformations on the political landscape of Haryana

Abstract: Over the past two decades, Haryana has undergone significant socio-economic changes that have shifted its political focus from caste-based alignments to issue-driven concerns. Traditionally dominated by Jat leaders like Devi Lal and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, politics in Haryana was rooted in caste hierarchies and agrarian power. However, liberalization, urban growth, better education, and migration have disrupted this system. With the rise of industrial hubs such as Gurugram and Faridabad, public expectations have evolved, class divisions have shifted, and a more aware electorate now prioritizes governance and development over caste loyalties.
