Abstract: Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a scheme which is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions in order to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India. Apex Professional University, a statutory university has been a participating institute of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan for the sustainable development of villages. Thereby, multiple surveys were conducted and data were collected from five villages in the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh namely, Ayeng, Sika Tode, Berung, Runne, and Gune by the team Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Pasighat. Out of 203 households in Ayeng village, 180 have been surveyed which revealed that the villagers do not avail of various government schemes. The villagers as such face no major health issues except for a few with paralysis. The majority of the villagers earn their livelihood through agricultural activities followed by Government services, Trade/Business, and Animal Husbandry and their major problems include unemployment, financial insecurity, lack of health care centers, and insufficient number of schools. The survey of the village of Sika Tode revealed that there is no proper transportation facility in the village. Their major problems include unemployment, financial insecurity, lack of healthcare centers, and an insufficient number of schools. The majority of the villagers earn their livelihood through agricultural activities followed by Government and private services, Trade/Business, weaving, etc. Generally, no major health issues were observed in the village. Berung was another village, where the surveys were conducted which revealed that many government schemes have not been availed by the villagers due to lack of awareness drive, unwillingness in the villagers to know about schemes, villagers’ priority given to the agricultural activities, and so on. As such no major health issues were seen. The majority of the villagers earn their livelihood through agricultural activities followed by Government and private services, Trade/Business, weaving, etc. Finally, the surveys in Runne and Gune villages found that the villages have no primary health care Centre to provide health services to the villagers and there is a very poor transportation facility. The scarcity of drinking water has been one of the serious issues for the villagers and although the Swachh Bharat Mission toilet benefit has been declared by the government, it has not reached many households as informed by the villagers during the surveys.
