Reading habits among the users of malda district library, West Bengal

Abstract: This study investigates the reading habits of users at the Malda District Library in West Bengal, focusing on the frequency, preferences, and types of reading materials consumed by library patrons. The research aims to understand the factors influencing reading choices, such as age, education, and socio-economic background, and explores the role of the library in promoting reading culture in the region. Data was collected through surveys and interviews with a diverse group of library users, including students, professionals, and general readers. Findings reveal varied reading patterns, with a significant preference for fiction and educational materials, and highlight the impact of the library €™s resources and services on fostering literacy. The study also identifies challenges faced by the library in meeting user needs and suggests recommendations for improving library services-to further encourage reading among the local population.
