Abstract: The World War II (1939-1945) stands as the greatest transforming events in contemporary history, reshaping world geopolitics, economy, and society. This research paper examines the causes, key events, and far-reaching consequences of the conflict, emphasizing its ideological, nationalist, and geopolitical dimensions. The paper explores the rise of fascist and militaristic governments in Japan, Germany, and Italy, the collapse of appeasement policies, and the ineffectiveness of the Treaty of Versailles as pivotal factors leading to the war. It also analyses the major military campaigns, including the Blitzkrieg, the Battle of Stalingrad, D-Day, and the atom bomb explosionin Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which marked turning points in the conflict. The paper highlights the war's impact on the post-war world order, including rise of the USA and the USSR as global superpowers, beginning of the Cold War, and foundation of international institutions like the UNO and the Bretton Woods system. Additionally, it discusses the social and economic transformations triggered by the war, such as decolonization, the rise of civil rights movements, and the redefinition of gender roles. By examining the complex interplay of military, economic, and ideological factors, this paper underscores the enduring legacy of World War II on contemporary international relations and global politics.
