Marital attitudes and quality among healthcare workers: Exploring the impact of frontline duties during the Marburg virus disease outbreak in Rwanda

Author(s): Alphonse Nkurunziza and Claudine Munganyinka

Abstract: This study examines the relationship between marital attitudes and marital quality among healthcare workers during their involvement in frontline duties amid the Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) outbreak in Rwanda. A total of 250 healthcare workers participated, with data collected using the Marital Attitudes Scale and Marital Quality Scale. Multiple regression analysis revealed that positive marital attitudes and years of marriage were strong predictors of marital quality, while age and length of involvement in health services had a negative impact. The findings highlight the need for institutional support to mitigate work-related stress and protect marital relationships during health crises. The study emphasizes the importance of targeted interventions that address both individual and relational well-being among healthcare professionals.
