Understanding and practicing Indian democracy

Abstract: Democracy as a political philosophy and system has become the dominant universal aspiration irrespective of whether it is the best form or not. But, recall the famous dictum of Churchill from a speech on November 11, 1947 [1], ‘Democracy is the worst form of government, except for those other forms that have been tried from time to time.’ Since 1947, Democracy has evolved, taken several incarnations and has not been replaced by any better system yet. So, for now it remains the most accepted form of politics.
